On Christmas eve we treated ourselves to a nice tea experience – afternoon tea in the Island Shangri-La. This takes place in the Lobby Lounge with the elegance of teardrop crystal chandeliers plus Christmas trees inside and lush green palm trees and flower beds outside.
Normally there would be different tea sets to choose, I believe they have an English set (Traditional) and their own signature set (with more innovative items like a roll of sliced cucumber stuffed with egg). However, as it was Christmas eve, there was a special Christmas afternoon tea.
It was lovely, we had great savoury dishes including smoked salmon on a mini bagel and toast with pate. In the middle section we had some signature desserts from the hotel’s Island Gourmet eatery, including a lemon tart, a strawberry cake and a vanilla eclair. In the third section we had traditional Christmas treats including stollen, fruit cake and Christmas cookies. A separate basket of scones completes the set. We tried the Red Tea and White Peony Supreme Chinese teas plus a fruit Ronnefeldt tea, which we already were familiar with, but which was nice too.
We enjoyed the afternoon tea, especially as there was some soft live music being played next to us, three ladies on violin and piano with a gentleman on the bass. Really good music, and a nice Christmas treat!
Plus some lovely Christmas decorations surrounding us.
